The 2009 Dearborn/Dearborn Heights CROP Walk will be hosted by Dearborn First Presbyterian Church, 600 N. Brady, Dearborn, MI. 48124, and telephone (313) 274-1313. The walk will be held on Sunday, October 4, with registration starting at 1:00 PM and the Walk starting at 2:00 PM. Walks of one, three and six miles (10K) are available.

Groups interested in participation in the Walk should have representatives attend the “Recruiters Meeting” at 7:00 PM on Monday, August 3^rd.at St.Paul Lutheran Church, 21915 Beech Street (corner Monroe). Dearborn, MI. 48124, telephone (313) 561-0168. Participating groups can pick up sponsor forms, posters, CWS information pieces, etc. which will help in the recruiting of walkers and pledgers.

Once the Walk is over, walkers are asked to collect their pledges as soon as possible so representatives of each group can turn the pledges in on Sunday, November 1st at St.  Paul Lutheran Church.

This years goal is $10,000. Funds raised from the Walk will be used for hunger and emergence relief overseas, nationally and locally. Twenty five percent of the pledges from this Walk will go to five local charities; Christian Council of Metro Detroit, Covenant House, Cross Roads, Manna Meals and St. Leo’s Soup Kitchen. In addition walkers are being asked to bring a box of cold cereal and a can of regular coffee for Heartline, Inc. of Detroit.

As in the past, walkers will be eligible for a variety of gifts supplied by local merchants and citizens.
